I never could figure out how to win the bag of good being offered at our shopping center one morning. I saw a lot of people walking around with nice shopping bags filled with health goods but couldn't figure out from these signs how to win one.  Detailed words are shown below here.

The funeral ceremony will

This man passed away while walking up to the ramp in our building.  We saw the paramedics from our windows.  It was a very sad thing to see.  He was young at only 60.

Schloss Mannheim (Castle)

Yesterday we visited the Mannheim Castle.  You are not allowed to take a camera or even a purse inside so I'll include some links so you can see the rooms from the website.  You select below the panorama Quick Time or another viewer if you want to see the room.

The Palace was built in 1720 as one of the largest Baroque palaces on the Upper Rhine.  Construction was conducted for a total of nearly 40 years.  In WW II it was almost completely destroyed.  With the reconstruction beginning in 1947 only a few state-rooms where restored.  Since 2007 more rooms and objects have been restored.  Most of the building is used by the university for students now.

The tour rooms are only a few in the center.  The sides are the University.

FOG
Yesterday it was so foggy we couldn't see the next building shown here or the ground from our apartment.  Today it isn't as foggy but you can see in this photo it is pretty foggy.   I wonder if Steve could find his way to the tram station?  Yesterday it did clear up in the afternoon.

Remote control boats

In our local park there is a place for people to run their remote control boats.  I've also seen people with remote control helicopters and UFO's there too.  Mostly who I see there look like grandpas and grandkids.  They have a lot of fun and some of the hobby crafts look very expensive.

Camels
On a walk yesterday afternoon we saw a field with camels.   This seemed unusual for Germany.  These camels where really well trained.  The person taking care of them would brush them and then tell them to go over there and sit down and one by one after getting brushed they would go over to another part of the field and lay down.  Further on our walk we saw posters advertising a circus in town.

Rhein Park and area
Yesterday we took the tram down to a large park on the Rhein.  On the way through town we stopped at the Mannheim water tower.  The water has been turned off for the winter but it is still pretty.  There are a ton of bunny rabbits that live in the park.  Reissinsel Waldpark and Strandbad (beach) on the Rhein has a ton of forested trails for walking or biking.  On the beach we saw our first BBQ's being used by families.  The beach is large plum sized rocks.  The barges pass by every few minutes.  There are several bird sanctuaries along the river.  On the walk back toward the tram stop we passed by a cute playground that I thought was neat because it looked like an old fashioned play yard all made from a person and not manufactured where kids could play and actually get dirty.  Tree houses, forts, tunnels, and a hand water pump.  We had a very nice outing.

Another beautiful sunrise we had yesterday.  This morning there wasn't any clouds so the sunrise wasn't colorful.

Lake Park

We have a very nice area to live in here.  There are two lakes behind our apartment building with pathways for bikes and/or pedestrians.   This is autumn with leaves changing and nice weather.  I enjoy walking all along here looking at the many birds and people and dogs.  This afternoon I met up with my neighbors who don't speak any English but we tried to communicate.  They are teaching me about the local plants animals and words in German.

There are a ton of Mallard ducks here.  They are all cute and friendly.  I guess Mallards are all over the world.
