 BIKE RIDE TO SCHWABENHEIM
Today was another nice day and when it is nice I just need to get out and ride.  Even though I probably should have stayed in the apartment to wait to see if the person who fixes ovens might show up, I waited for a few hours then put a note on the door and left.  What a pretty day it was, warm and hardly any wind.  I rode out past Ladenburg to a small town on the Nekar called Schwabenheim.  This is on the way to Heidelberg and will be a good way to bike there when I go to Heidelberg.  The Rhein and Nekar have flooded about a week ago and I saw where the Nekar had been in some places maybe 10 feet above normal.  Ladenburg had mud that looked to be about 3" thick across it but someone had already cleared it all off so my ride was clean and I had no worries.
This was just the start of my ride through the fields by our apartment.

Going over the bridge between Wallstadt and Vogelstang.

Wallstadt, the water tower and Mannheim Luisenpark tower in the distance.
I saw this sign along the path, translates to something like.
A field for the hamster
The hamster is in danger of extinction Baden-Wurttemberg. The manager of this agricultural area supports wildlife conservation hamsters of the Regional Council of Karlsruhe.
The area is managed hamster friendly. This means that here islets grown crops that provide the hamster sufficient food and shelter. When harvesting and of soil cultivation special consideration is given to the hamsters.
I've been looking for this guy but I haven't seen one, I think its cute.

Looks like he has a mouthful.

one of the grains growing near here, maybe wheat?

another grain, maybe barley or rye?

baby Canadian geese

some baby Canadian Geese a little bit bigger.

lots of ripe strawberries

strawberry fields forever

The Nekar and the start of a lock

I could turn right and go to Heidellberg but I turn left and return to the apt.

Gelato in Ladenburg for lunch
